 Equisetum hymale Horsetail Rush

The Giant Horsetail is a foliage plant with jointed, reed-like growth, resembling bamboo. The antiquated, prehistoric look of its foliage makes it an interesting addition to water gardens. This plant is also called Scouring Rush, named for the use of its tough, abrasive stems as tools for scrubbing and scouring. These rushes produce a pinecone-like head as a flower.
