Bridled Triggers are less showy than others in the family but have tons of attitude to make up for their modest appearance! They have dusky coloration and no particularly distinguishing color characteristics aside from a narrow, pale yellow to pink band under the chin. Triggerfish are rather aggressive and are best kept with fish of similar size and aggression. Their diet should consist of vitamin-enriched meaty frozen foods, shrimp, snails (shell intact) as well as the occasional live food snack. Most triggers can be very destructive in a reef set up, however, Sufflamen, Melichthys, and Xanthichthys genera are planktivores and can even be successful in some reef aquariums. Care should also be taken to protect equipment like heaters and power cords, as Triggers have been known to bite at some equipment and may cause damage to the equipment, themselves or to tankmates. Also, be aware of your own hands in the aquarium - many unwary aquarists have been bitten after they forget to watch their trigger as they clean, especially from characters like this one!
