The Variegated Shark is closely related to barbs and carp. It has a skinny body that is mottled black, tan and orange and will spend most of its time near or around the bottom of the aquarium.Growing to about twelve inches in length, the Variegated Shark needs a roomy aquarium as an adult. They are often intolerant of others, especially similar species. Tankmates should not be too fragile. Use lots of plants if possible.This species can even tolerate cooler waters and can be kept in some warmer ponds, although it will not usually survive a cold winter season outdoors.235872
