Neolamprologus brevis has several populations at different areas around Lake Tanganyika. The Mtoto Zebra is golden tan with yellow and white accents in the fins, and pale violet markings on the face. These are shell-dwelling cichlids, meaning they inhabit abandoned snail shells. They situate their particular shell in the sandy bottom of the lake, and guard it quite fiercely, as it us used for shelter and spawning.Because of their small size (only about 2 inches), Zebras should only be kept with smaller, non-predatory cichlids, or ideally in a small species set-up. They may be kept as a harem with one male to 3 or 4 females in a tank of about 20 gallons. Be sure to keep more snail shells in the tank than fish, as they will fight over shells. Be sure you have fine, sandy substrate so they can bury their shell to their liking.Zebras are “micro-predators”, meaning their diet is carnivorous, but because of their small size, they eat tiny brine shrimp, zooplankton, or other smaller sized morsels. For breeding, be sure to feed frozen or live foods. Otherwise, they will accept flake.

Porites are commonly found with colonies of “Christmas Tree” Fan worms living in them. These corals require medium to high lighting, usually the brighter colors require more intense lighting. Moderate water movement is also required and for this reason they are often placed high in the aquarium. Feeding of some form of invertebrate food should be done once or twice a week to benefit both the coral and the worms hosting in it.

The Blonde Naso Tang is a color variant of the Naso or Lipstick Tang. The entire dorsal fin of the Blonde Naso is yellow or yellow-orange. The anal fin is orange with blue-black trim and the base of the tail is orange. The caudal fin itself has a yellow vertical bar on the rear edge. The body is grey-brown and often lighter on the dorsal side. The fish also has red or orange lips and a yellow-edged, black mask that covers the snout and eyes. Like other tangs, these fish are omnivores. They need plenty of algae and other greens in their diet to keep them healthy, but will also eat small bits of meaty foods. Algae can be provided in the form of Spirulina, dried marine algae on clips as a frequent treat, or through live algae grown in the tank or in a refugium. Tangs are generally community fish and get along with most other tankmates. They do not bother corals and can actually help keep nuisance algae trimmed and under control. Tangs may become territorial and aggressive towards very similar tankmates or tangs from the same genus, so always use caution when keeping these fish together.236521
